Should you invest in a website?

This article is dedicated to all entrepreneurs who are considering investing in a website.

When starting a business, especially at the beginning, it often happens (not in all cases, but very often) that the initial capital is limited, so we find ourselves in the need to prioritize the expenses that we consider essential for the operation of our business.

This is when we ask ourselves: is having our own website really a good investment? To answer this question we have to be clear about the objective we would give to the website and, with respect to that objective, how much it is making our work easier.

A website can have multiple functions, from primary to secondary, for example. If our main objective is sales, then we could think of a virtual store as the main function of our website, and perhaps a secondary function would be to serve as information, but you might ask yourself, why would I invest in a website if I can make the sale myself from the messaging of my social networks?

The same question arises if the main objective of the website, for example, is informative; you yourself can provide the information through direct contact with potential customers on social networks.

And it is true that social networks are indispensable today, especially when it comes to starting a business, and they have a very attractive factor which is that although one can make paid advertisements, the rest of the functions are free, in addition to serving as a direct sales channel.

So… Can I just use my social media and save the money I would have to invest in my own website? Although we can use social media only and exclusively to manage the digital presence of our business, the answer we will give you is the following:

We recommend that you evaluate what stage of your business you are in, because if you are just starting out and you cannot afford it yet, you can schedule it for a second stage of development, because, precisely to start successfully, we must leave the starting point where we do everything ourselves (where we are self-employed) and become the managers and administrators of our start up, and we are achieving this step by step, thanks to the automation of our processes. This allows us to free up time, which is one of our most valuable intangible assets, and it is here at this point that having our own website is a priority.

A website allows you to automate multiple functions, especially when it comes to selling. But not only when it comes to achieving a conversion, but also when it comes to providing more detailed information about each product or service, leaving direct messages only for topics that you have to attend to in a personalized way, given that a large part of the interaction with our public does not turn into a sale. All the time, for example, that we invest in giving informative answers can be passed on to our potential client by offering a platform with which they can interact dynamically without the need to invest our time, which we can now leave for the most important tasks that will allow you to grow.
